The sale was a tremendous success, raising funds to acquire new resources for the library. The event was well-attended, reflecting the community's strong support for their local library. The Library Team extends its thanks to the Friends of the Library for their significant efforts in organising and managing the sale, which involved a great deal of planning and heavy lifting Centennial Parklands Project Resumes Shay Brennan Construction returned to the Centennial Parklands Project site last Monday, 6 May following a temporary halt for the Australian Celtic Festival setup and delivery. Work on the Project is now back on track. This project received grant funding from the Australian Government and is supported by Glen Innes Severn Council NDIS Friends Hub Activities The Life Choices-Support Services NDIS Friends Hub has been getting crafty lately, creating vibrant Mother's Day mementos last week. Participants enjoyed the chance to express their creativity and make unique gifts to celebrate the special occasion. These activities are part of the Hub's ongoing efforts to foster community spirit and provide meaningful experiences for its members. Public Notice COMPLETE THE ONLINE SURVEY Alcohol prohibited areas and alcohol free zone Council is seeking public comment in relation to the re-establishment of Council's Alcohol Prohibited Areas and Alcohol Free Zone. Currently Coronation Park (skatepark Lions Park Veness Park, Anzac Park, King Edward Park, King George Oval and Park, and Quinton and O'Shea Parks which are on the C's of Wentworth and Lambeth St Glen Innes are established as Alcohol Prohibited Areas Council's current Alcohol Free Zone extends the whole of Grey Street between Taylor Street and Oliver Street including those Streets, public places and car parks Intersecting and adjacent to Grey Street from the eastern side of East Avenue to the western side of Church Street. Council is calling for submissions relating to this proposal. COUNCIL AT WORK! Wentworth Street Bridge The Wentworth Street bridge replacement project is progressing well with abutments and precast planks now in place. This project. funded by the NSW Government's Fixing Country Bridges Program, is now 50 per cent complete The new bridge aims to improve safety and accessibility for local residents and enhance connectivity for the town of Glen Innes Infrastructure Works Program The following works are scheduled in the period ending Friday, 24 May 2024 subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays Jet patching in Glen Innes Township, and Pinkett Road General pothole patching, street sweeping and roadside slashing around the Glen Innes Township The Roads Construction Crew will be working at Iparran Road and Jenkins Road Maintenance grading is scheduled Stonehenge Road Tindals Road Hazelwood Road, Pedows Road Glen Elgin Road and Ten Mile Road Maintenance crew is line marking vegetation control on bridge approaches and weed spraying The Bridge team are working on Mann River Bridge on Mt Mitchell Road The Heavy Patching Crew will be undertaking the heavy patching on Pinkett Road and at the intersection of Grafton Street and Coronation Avenue Any reports of road conditions or requests for works need to be directed to the Council Infrastructure Customer Service Line: (02) 67302371 or roads@gic.nsw.gov.au JOBS AT COUNCIL Council currently has a number of fantastic career opportunities available!
