Book Week: Celebrating The Magic of Reading' This year's National Children's Book Week theme. The Magic of Reading inspired a range of engaging activities for local children. Events included imaginative games, creative dress-up opportunities, storytelling sessions, and craft activities, enjoyed by home schooled children, students from Red Range School, and other community kids aged 5 to 12 The week was a vibrant celebration of literature and creativity, highlighting the joy and magic that reading brings to young minds. Donations Available for Local Community Groups Council invites local not for profit community groups to submit a written application requesting a donation during the 2024/2025 Financial Year, up to a value of $1,500 for projects that will benefit the community A total of $15,000 is available, including $5,000 from the Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Key Details: Application Deadline: Monday, 9 September 2024, by 4:30 PM Application Forms: Available at Council's Town Hall office or online at:gisc.nsw.gov.au. Previous recipients must submit a Donation Report to stay eligible. APPLY BEFORE 9 SEPT Scheduled Blast at Wattle Vale Quarry Council advises that a scheduled blast operation is planned at the Wattle Vale Quarry on Friday, 30 August 2024, between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM The timing of the blast may vary depending on loading times, weather conditions, and other unforeseen circumstances. For further updates, please visit the Council website at: gisc.nsw.gov.au/ Infrastructure-Services/Quarrys Council to Commence Weed Spraying Program Next Week Council will begin its weed spraying program from Monday, 2 September, starting with highways and then progressing to cemeteries in Glen Innes and surrounding villages. Spraying will be conducted under low wind conditions to ensure safety and effectiveness, with no impact on private property. Council appreciates the community's cooperation during this essential maintenance work. AT WORK! Bridge Work Progresses on Mt Mitchell Road Council's bridge team has completed the formwork and reinforcement for the Mann River bridge on Mt Mitchell Road. with the deck pour following This marks a significant milestone as the bridge starts to take shape The road remains closed to motorists at Mann River. Alternate access to the Mt Mitchell area east of the river is available via Glen Legh Road Infrastructure Works Program The following works are scheduled in the period ending Friday, 30 August 2024 subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays: Jet patching in Glen Innes Township.
