Liston Legal traces its history back to Windeyer & Havyatt in 1930. Henry Liston was admitted as a solicitor in Tamworth in 1934. After practising in other parts of New South Wales and army service in WWII, Liston joined John Windeyer's practice in Glen Innes in 1947. After Mr Windeyer's death in 1952, Henry Liston was in practice on his own and with various partners until his retirement in 1989. Employed solicitors David Loveband and Henry's son Bill became partners in 1984 trading as Liston & Loveband until 2006. After the dissolution of a short partnership with David Clifton in March 2013, the firm is now a sole practice conducted by Bill Liston under the name Liston Legal. The firm is fortunate to have the services of a former Sydney barrister and senior counsel Chris Leahy who, with his wife Margaret, opted for a life in the country in 2011. Liston Legal and its predecessors have a long history of assisting the people of Glen Innes and New England and continue to do so.
