The organisation was formed to investigate a total catchment management plan for the Macintyre Valley, which took in the Glen Innes area. Key issues of the day were Eucalyptus dieback, salinity and soil erosion issues. Today GLENRAC continues the work of the original committee with an active volunteer Committee of Management and a team of five paid staff based in Glen Innes, supporting the goals and activities of the organisation. In 2024 GLENRAC has a wider scope of priorities encompassing natural resource management, sustainable agriculture production and supporting the people who both manage the land and live in our community of interest.
